I often get asked by people at work, church, at the store or wherever questions about how do they get involved or provide input. Below are some good things to know and links to our cities website to help you be more informed and participate in the process.
The Eau Claire City Council meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 4 pm. These are legislative meetings where the Council votes on items. Public Hearings are held at 7 pm on the Monday evening before each legislative session. All meetings are held in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 203 S. Farwell Street.
Monday is the day we listen to input from all those concerned. Our goal and task is that we listen. If we ask questions, it is to understand the view being expressed more clearly. While at times there are views for or against a particular item are shared – our goal is to learn. If you can not attend your input can be received from an electronic comment form and they share equal weight to written and oral statements. Each council member will receive your a copy of your form.
The Council Agendas (also called council packets) are published to council and the public typically on the Thursday before we meet. They are found on the city’s website under the Government section.
You can sign up for email notifications for agendas, beach closings, city jobs, calendars for boards, meetings to name a few. Simply complete the form on the E-notifications form and you’ll receive items as they are posted.
Contact your council member(s).
Yes, you have a district council member for your area. I serve what we call District 1, which is mostly a northeast section of the city. There are also five at large members as well. Again, the city website has that on the City Council Members page.
I look forward to hearing your concerns and continuing to make Eau Claire a wonderful place to live!
