Yesterday I had the opportunity to be part of the UW-EC Student Forum on the upcoming election April 5th. All candidates were invited, but only 2 at large and myself attended. Students are a vibrant and important part of Eau Claire. UW-EC and CVTC brings students to Eau Claire from all over the globe and many make Eau Claire their home after their graduation.
Katy McGarry, UW-Eau Claire Student Senate Intergovernmental Affairs Director shared that “Being in Student Senate, it’s really important to meet these leaders, find out what they’re doing in the city and find out how they can get involved.”
The forum was excellent and had great questions and involvement. Topics discussed were off-campus student housing, environmental issues and ideas on how to increase civic involvement.
Being able to hear from the students allowed me to see that they, our future leaders, are well prepared to take on the challenges that will meet them in years to come.
While today we have blustery snow, which one might wonder if all the Presidential hopefuls coming to town have brought it with them … humor here :), but the sun is now starting to shine and spring is coming on strong.
Be sure to vote this coming Tuesday, April 5th. I’d appreciate your support.
